We began the trip with a visit to one of the Martin Marietta quarries in the Edwards Limestone, San Antonio's aquifer. Michelle Lee (left) was our guide.

The huge quarry gave us a great look at the texture and mineralogy of the limestone.

Missy takes a closer look.

We also stopped at a clay exposure nearby.

Pedernales Falls State Park. Can you see the bedding planes?

Dave and Eric get up close and intimate with a genuine Texas spring at Pedernales Falls.

The top of Enchanted Rock, a knob of granite basement rock, was a great place for frisbee!
