History -- Location -- Facilities

The Osservatorio Geologico di Coldigioco is an independent center/field station for research and education in geology and art. Located in the beautiful, tiny hilltop village of Coldigioco in the Apennine mountains of central Italy, OGC consists of sleeping, eating, and living facilities, geological labs, art studios, and a small fleet of vehicles. Sandro Montanari and Paula Metallo run OGC with assistance from friends and colleagues from the US and Europe. Every two years, Coldigioco is invaded by 24 geology students from Carleton College, who spend 10 weeks studying the geology, cuisine, and culture of Italy.
