What Do the Candidates Say About Teachers? |
|||||
|
The teacher shortage is widely recognized as a pressing issue. All three candidates support reforms to help attract quality teachers to high-need areas and keep them in the classroom. Some popular topics of debate include: incentives (how will the government draw quality teachers to the schools which need them most? How will teachers be increasingly rewarded for their hard work?), and support systems (how can schools use the expertise of master teachers to support new ones?). Also, as the candidates seek to reform No Child Left Behind, they must also consider the role that teachers will play in maintaining national and state standards for performance. |
