Disruptive Innovation: In 2007, roughly 1 million students were enrolled in online courses–an increase 22 times greater than in 2000! Christensen and Horn suggest that in about six years 10 percent of all courses will be computer-based, and by 2019 about 50 percent of courses will be delivered online. Talk about disruption! States with the highest online enrollments (2006-07): Potential to Serve: High school dropouts, home-schoolers, students with no AP classes offered at their high school, small rural schools with limited classes. |
