COMMENTS:

* Locking Mudd: All students with access to the laboratories in Mudd, you are responsible for the security of the building after hours. Please be sure to lock the doors in the evening, if you are the last to leave the physics labs (or even if you think you may by the last--better safe than sorry!) Thanks a lot for your cooperation.

* Summer Fun! Physics seniors: Application are now being accepted for the 1997 APS Industrial Summer Intern Program, which provides an opportunity for physics students to spend time in an industrial environment during the summer months. It carries a $2000 monthly stipend and is an excellent way to see how physics is used in industry. Deadline is October 25. Bill Titus has some more information if you're interested.

* Engineering Conference: If you're a junior or senior interested in engineering, you might want to attend the 7th Annual Conference on Opportunities in Engineering to be held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Students arrive at Madison on Wednesday evening, November 13 and leave on Saturday or Sunday. All travel, food, and lodging expenses are covered by the Conference. The application deadline is October 11. If you're interested, contact Bill Titus for an application or more details.

* Chemistry major needs EXCEL help! A chemistry major with a medical problem needs someone to be their "EXCEL hands" this term. This workstudy job will include sitting at a terminal and entering numbers and formulas, making plots, running regresssions, as dictated by the chemistry major. We expect the job to be a 2-4 hour/week activity. If you are interested, please contact Ben Colman at x 5372 or Trish Ferrett at x4408. The requirements of the job are EXCEL proficiency. No chemistry knowledge is needed.
