Weekly Seminar: We are looking for volunteers to give 20-minute talks at our Friday seminars on their summer work experiences. We are all anxious to hear the what, why, and where of your summer job. If you are intertested in giving such a talk, please contact Bill Titus as soon as possible
Student Science Poster Session is scheduled for Friday, October 5 at 3:30 in Hulings. If you have a poster already made describing your summer research or if you'd like to make one up, again contact Bill Titus.
Physics Fall Picnic is scheduled for Friday, September 28. We need 2 seniors to plan the fabulous fun fall event. Please contact Ann by Friday, Sept 14th if you will be willing to volunteer to be a coordinator. Ann has the planning information.
College of Engineering: University of Wisconsin - Madison Opportunities in Engineering Conference. Selected students will hear faculty presentations on research, tour labs, meet with current graduate students and individually with faculty in the student's area of interest, and tour the city of Madison as well as the UW campus. All expenses, including travel, housing, and food for the four-day conference are paid in full by the College of Engineering. Conference is November 7 - 11, 2001. Washington University School of Engineering A representative from Washington University (St. Louis) will be on campus all morning Wednesday, October 3, 2001. This would be a great opportunity to hear about the 3-2 dual degree program. Contact Nelson Christensen to make an appointment

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships for Minorities Information and applications are available on the web site: http://national-academies.org/fellowships. Application deadline: Nov 19, 2001. Predoctoral fellowships are intended for students who have enrolled in or plan to enroll in a Ph.D. or Sc.D. no later than fall 2002.
Seniors: National Foundation Graduate Research Feffowship applications are now available. The three fellowships are awarded for graduate study leading to research-based masters or doctoral degrees in science, math, and engineering fields.
