Physics Table:Physics/Astronomy Table offers a great way to get to know others in the department, students, faculty, and staff, in an informal setting. This term we will meet on Wednesdays, from noon-1:30 p.m. for lunch in the Corner Tea Room (Burton Dining Hall). Meet on 3rd Olin at 11:50 a.m. for the walk to the CTR or join us there at noon. Everyone is welcome!

FYI

Help Wanted: The department is looking for majors interested in serving on the DCC (Departmental Curriculum Committee). It's a non-onerous, often interesting, occasionally power-wielding assignment. Please contact Rebecca (x-4383, rtollefs) by this Friday, 9/17, for more information or to volunteer.

Hello Student Workers! Welcome to the department or welcome back. Please check with your supervisor soon to arrange your work schedule. Timesheets will be kept in a binder on the shelves outside the department office (Olin 331). Please see Doug Foxgrover in Olin 208 (x-4033) if you have any questions. We're all looking forward to a great year.

Seniors: National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship applications are now available. The three-year fellowships are awarded for graduate study leading to research-based master's or doctoral degrees in science, math, and engineering fields. These awards are intended for students at or near the beginning of their graduate study. Deadline for application is November 4, 1999. If you are planning to attend graduate school next year, please stop by the student lounge on 2nd Olin to pick up a copy of the application.
