Monday, Nov 12, 1:50-4 pm Olin 02, CANE I, "Kevin Pettit would like to announce CANE I, the first Conference on Atomic and Nuclear Physics. It will be held on Monday, November 12th from 1:50 - 4:00 in Olin 02. Its poster session will be on the 2nd floor and everyone is encouraged to attend both the invited talks and the session following where the P128 physics students will present posters on the experiments they've done. If you'd like to present a poster yourself at CANE, please speak with Kevin. For more details, please see the homepage for A&N."

End-of-the-term Physics Table. Join the department staff for
lunch and good company. We can meet on 3rd Olin at 11:50 for the
short walk to the new dinning hall or you can meet us at the Language
Center Dining Hall. Students off-board are invited to bring their
lunch.

Student Employees: Timesheets need to be totaled and signed by the time you leave for winter break. Please come by the department office and check the timesheet binder for incomplete sheets. Getting paid for hours worked is a good thing!

The American Physical Society and IBM will co-sponsor a research internship program for undergraduate women in the summer of 2002. This is a salaried summer internship at one of IBM's U.S. research centers located in San Jose, CA; Yorktown Heights, NY; or Austin, TX. Montana State University Department of Physics, Solar Physics group offers a limited number of competitive Undergraduate Research Positions for ten weeks during the summer of 2002. Projects can range from research in solar MHD and plasma physics, to space science hardware development, and analysis of data from solar physics space missions such as Yohkoh, TRACE, and HESSI.
