Radiations

November 10-16

Weekly Calendar
Tuesday, November 12, Physics Table, 11:30-12:30 p.m., LDC 117, Join the Department staff for lunch. We can meet on 3rd Olin at 11:20 for the short walk to the dinning hall or you can join us there.

Wednesday, November 13, St. Olaf Seminar, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., Science Center 170, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)î, Dr. Armando Manduca, Biomathematics Resource, Mayo Clinic. We'll discuss the basic physical principles involved in MRI, and then talk about two current areas of research: (1) the automatic correction of artifacts and blurring caused by patient motion during the imaging process, and (2) the imaging of acoustic wave propagation through issues or other materials, leading to images depicting the *elasticity* of objects.

FYI
Tom Baraniak's (department Electronics & Laboratory Manager) latest published article "Ultrasonic Homing Device," will appear in the November issue of Circuit Cellar, Inc. If you go to this link right now, you can see the article (one of 4-5 in the last year or so) http://www.circuitcellar.com/.
