3. Judges Needed for Cannon Falls High School Science Fair. Transportation and pizza dinner provided. Forty to fifty judges are needed in all areas of the sciences. 4. Women's Careers in Physics The January issue of American Scientist has an interesting article about subtle factors that may lead to more difficult careers for women in physical sciences -- Joel Weisberg
5. $$$$ We still need two graders for P126--Physics of Instrumentation. The best preparation for that would be P240, but frankly we're getting a bit uneasy about filling these positions so we would welcome volunteers with or without that background. If you're interested and have 2-3 hours per week available contact Bruce Thomas, x4389, bthomas or Steve Durbin, x4381, sdurbin .
6. Security Issues Over Winter Break a physics student loaned a friend his key to Room 218 and gave him the password to his Physics computer account. We would like to emphasize that this is entirely unacceptable and violates the agreement you signed when you were given an account on the NeXT machines. Ever since Paolo's laptop was stolen from his office we have become even more acutely aware of security issues. While we do not want to limit your access to 2nd Olin and to the computers therein, we need your fullest collaboration in keeping with the security guidelines and in helping out with the monitoring of the equipment whenever you are on 2nd Olin. We believe that it is important for all of you to have a place where you can study, socialize, help one another, and relax. Please help us maintain this privilege of yours.
