*****Crucial majors meeting! Come learn about the changes to the physics curriculum proposed by the faculty. Your feedback is essential. (See below.)*****

* FYI *

Department-wide curriculum discussion to be held Friday. Just before Thanksgiving the faculty and staff of the physics department held a retreat to discuss possible changes in the physics curriculum in response to the feedback we received from surveys of majors, non-majors, and alums during fall term. Several possible changes were discussed, but the input of majors is needed to see if you believe the proposed changes will address the issues revealed in the student surveys. Please plan to attend this vital meeting to help the department shape the curriculum for Carleton physics for the new millennium (or at least for the next several years!!).

Contest to name the Bulletin: It has come to the attention of the department that some members of our community feel The Bulletin is not a jazzy enough name for this slick publication. If you think you have a better name, send your ideas to Rebecca (rtollefs, x-4383) by next Wednesday, January 7. We'll vote on the submissions at the department meeting Wednesday afternoon, and the winner will be promptly notified. As incentive to get in the running, Bill is offering a $20.00 gift certificate to the Quality Bakery to the winner. Be creative!
