The American Astronomical Society maintains a web page of summer employment opportunities for undergraduates and graduate students. Institutions with programs (such as REU programs) send to the AAS a brief description of the program, a web link where students can retrieve further information and a contact person's email address. The American Physical Society and IBM will co-sponsor a research internship program for undergraduate women in the summer of 2003. This is a salaried summer internship at one of IBM's U.S. research centers located in San Jose, CA; Yorktown Heights, NY; or Austin, TX. University of Michigan REU in Atmospheric Science. Research topics: computer modeling of cometary and planetary atmospheres, analysis of spacecraft and sounding rocket data, theoretical and experimental studies of the dynamics and chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere, design and fabrication of spacecraft hardware.
