OSA MN Section Meeting: The fifth meeting of the 1997-98 academic year of the OSA - Minnesota Section will be held on Thursday 19 February 1998 in the Cherrywood Room of the Student Center on the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. The talk, by Joseph J. St. Olaf Seminar Info: Paul ("Pete") Malamen, a St. Olaf physics alumnus, '71, whose career has been spent working in the electric power industry will be this week¹s seminar speaker at St. Olaf. His talk will be on Wednesday, February 18 at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Olaf Science Center 170. Pete will discuss how physics is used in electric power systems all the way from the 120 volt outlets in a house to 500 kV transmission lines and the generators. Hardware, software, and planning problems will be addressed along with economics and electrical energy related careers.
