Goodsell Observatory Public Open House: Come look through the observatory's two historic telescopes. Dress warmly as the telescope domes are not heated. Cancelled if cloudy.

Prof. Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Discoverer of Pulsars, to Present Numerous Astrophysics Talks: Distinguished astrophysicist and discoverer of pulsars, Dr. Jocelyn Bell Burnell, will be with us Thursday and Friday, April 6-7. You are welcome to join her for any of the following activities: special lectures to astrophysics classes, a public lecture, "Black Holes in Space," physics table, and a Physics 123 lecture on her discovery of pulsars (see above). She is Professor of Physics and Chair of the Department of Physics in the UK's Open University, and this year, she is serving as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Princeton University. She has won numerous prizes and honorary doctorates for her scientific work. The public appreciation and understanding of science have always been important to Prof. Bell Burnell, and she is much in demand as an outstanding speaker and radio broadcaster.

Spring Picnic: Mark your calendars now for the evening of Friday, May 12 (Family Weekend) for our annual department picnic on the Hill of Three Oaks! Stay tuned for more information.

Pizza Party with Alum: Doug Kenshol (Physics, Class of ¹89) will be on campus next Tuesday evening (4/11) and Wednesday (4/12) at the invitation of the Career Center. Doug is creator of the Urban Enterprise Fund in Chicago, helping non-profits with start-up costs and management. Students interested in meeting Doug and eating pizza Tuesday evening (4/11) should email Rebecca (rtollefs) to let her know you¹ll attend. Rebecca will email those of you who respond with more details later.
