April 29, (Thursday), Reflections presents; a conversation with Joel Weisberg, ÒPassages:  From Cold Warrior to ÉÓ

Reflections is a series of faculty talks on life, work, and meaning.  It is sponsored by the Office of the Chaplain.  Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend.  Lunch will be provided for the first 30 attendees.

Join the Department staff and students for lunch.  We can meet on 3rd Olin at 11:55 for the short walk to the dinning hall or you can join us there.  This will be an opportunity to spend some time with Rich Noer, our P123 Speaker.  All are welcome.

 

April 30 (Friday), P123-What Physicists Do,

1:10-2:10 p.m., Olin 141

Rich Noer's ÒLast LectureÓ. Rich Noer is retiring in June after 38 years at Carleton. The first four presentations in our spring lecture series (Physics 123: What Physicists Do) have featured some of his former students. Now Rich will wind up the series with some reflections on his varied research activities and highlights of his time at Carleton. Join us for the lecture on Friday, and to wish him well at a reception in Olin lobby following the lecture.

Physics Students:  Please return your completed Physics Department Work Preference form to Ann by May 3rd if you would like one of those highly sought after physics department jobs.  The forms are in the plain brown wrapper that you received last week in your Sayles mailbox.

 

Majors:  Time to start thinking about department t-shirt designs.  Please post them on the board in Second Olin Lounge.

 

Building Bridges from Here to There, a three-session workshop for seniors to discuss transitions from Carleton to the real world, 4:30-5:30 pm, April 15, 22, & 29 in Hill Lounge.  Come talk about: job hunting, graduate schools, apartment searches, budgeting, insurance, and more.  Space is limited, so sign up through the career center (X4293) ASAP.
