ST-6 image (about 10 seconds)

When the above image was taken, the observers were hoping that they were centered on M97, the Owl Nebula. Having never seen the Owl Nebula, they thought that this might be it.



The above image flat fielded

As you can see, flatting the image made the Owl Nebula go away. The noise introduced into the image after the flat field has been applied is the result of using a flat field made at a different time and under different conditions than the original image.
