Women's Rugby is active fall and spring seasons. Practices are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 4:00pm on the Hill of Three Oaks. We have occasional Friday scrimmages against the St. Olaf women's team with games on the weekends against other MIAC schools as well as Wisconsin, Dakota, and Iowa schools. Though we are "only" a club team, we strive for excellence in all aspects of the game and really work to build a strong sense of team spirit.

No experience is required to become a member of the Women's Rugby team; all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn (and to tackle!) Though Women's Rugby is less well-known than Men's Rugby, women can and do play the exact same sport as the men. (although we like to think that we've refined it a little...)

Over the weekend of April 12 and 13, 2003, the Carleton Women's Rugby team beat Mankato State 20-0.

Carleton College Women's Rugby Club was founded in 1978 by Pixie Newman '78 and was the first women's rugby club in Minnesota. On May 16, 1998, the club held its twentieth year anniversary celebration on the Hill of Three Oaks, which included an Alumni game (the younger Carls won this year) and a pig roast. There are also alumni games each fall during Homecoming weekend. Among the women alums include players for the Twin City Amazons, the Minnesota Valkyries, the Berkeley All-Blues, as well as a 1996-97 Collegiate All-American.

Undefeated MIAC seasons from Spring '95- Fall '96. First Place Victory at All-Saints tournament Spring '95, Third Place Spring '98. Champion of All-Minnesota Tournament Fall '96. Victory over U of Michigan at Midwest Regional Tournament, Fall '96. Our record in the Spring of 1998 was 10-3, with no losses in regular season collegiate games. Our wins included a 54-0 blowout of Mankato State, a 33-0 victory over Macalester College, and a 19-5 win over Winona State.
