-Pictured above is an aerial view of the Cannon River upstream from the Northfield Dam.
-Note the site at which the sediment begins to accumulate above the dam, indicating a large amount of eroded sediment from the Cannon River watershed.
-Release of the dam would presumably cause this sediment to dissipate downstream, burying the current substrate with a thick silt, possibly threatening the river's fauna.
