Alumni
The Carleton Alumni Association is as old and as vibrant as the College itself.
Its membership consists of all persons who ever started as students at the
College. It is now an organization that is international in scope with over
24,400 alumni living all over the United States as well as throughout the
world. The purpose of the Carleton Alumni Association is to encourage identification
of alumni with the College and with one another, and to provide for mutual
support and assistance. The Association is comprised of individual members,
class organizations (particularly active during their reunion years) and groups
of alumni (e.g. the Chicago Carleton Club, the Seattle Carleton Club, etc.)
organized to promote and coordinate alumni activities in metropolitan areas.
The Association is led by national officers and a Board of Directors (The
Carleton Alumni Council with about 25 active members). The Alumni Council
is also the body which, in cooperation with the Office of Alumni Affairs,
selects individuals to receive Alumni Association Awards for Distinguished
Achievement, Exceptional Service and in the Spirit of Carleton-usually presented
at an awards ceremony during reunion weekend every June. Alumni support Carleton
through both organized and individual activities, on and off campus, including
programs for current and prospective students, financial contributions, assistance
to the Office of Admissions (through an extensive network of AARs-Alumni Admissions
Representatives) and the Career Center, and activities in cooperation with
the Alumni Annual Fund and academic departments of the College. Alumni are
also represented on the Board of Trustees and on the College Council. In turn,
Carleton serves its alumni by keeping them informed through publications like
The Carleton Voice, regional and local newsletters and by correspondence.
The College also keeps in touch with its alumni by sponsoring reunions, meetings,
seminars, workshops, off-campus activities and other functions which bring
together alumni, faculty, parents, friends and students. The Office of Alumni
Affairs is the primary point of contact between the College and its alumni.
