Catalog
Gould Library has rich collections of books, journals, government documents, and other resources which are accessed via MUSE, the online catalog. When you use the catalog it is important to understand the way keyword and subject searching work. The same principles apply to keyword and subject searching in the periodical indexes and abstracts, though different subject heading systems may be used. Additionally, you need to understand how the books are organized. Many academic libraries use the Library of Congress classification system. This is your key to finding items on the shelf.Bridge: The Online Catalog
Access to the library's collections (books, journals, microforms, etc) via title, author, subject, and keyword searching. You might want to start with a keyword search in order to find good subject headings for your topic.Browsing the stacks can help you evaluate the library's collection in a given field of study. Again, because American studies is so interdisciplinary, you may well find materials on one topic that cover a wide variety of call numbers. Browsing is probably best done after you have located one good item for your research.
Search WorldCat, an online catalog for libraries throughout the world, to take your search beyond Gould Library.
