WELCOME to new students and WELCOME BACK to returning
students. For those of you who are new to campus, let me introduce the
Internship Weekly. In an effort to conserve paper and also bring all
students a timely listing of representative internship opportunities,
we will select a few of the many internships that we receive each week
to list in the Wednesday NNB. We also use the Weekly to notify you of
internship activities and news.
All internship listings are online on the Career Center homepage
(campus/career/). This summer we moved our database to a new
server from Monster Board to Experience. Experience is also used for
senior jobs and on-campus recruiting so we are very hopeful that this
move will better serve our students. We are still working out a few
technical difficulties however, so it is not fully functional. Please
bear with us for just a few more days and we will put a note in the
NNB when we are up and running. The database is a national database
with almost 8,000 internship opportunities. Carleton participates in
this database with a consortium of 24 Liberal Arts Colleges across the
United States. The database is easily searchable by area of interest
and location. The database is accessible from all computers on campus
including two macs in the Career Center and also off-campus with a password.
If you participated in an internship this past summer and would
like to share your experience at one of the internship meetings, please
stop by and talk with Kathy or send an e-mail to Kcooper. We are especially
interested in education (such as Summerbridge), and any internships
in DC, although we'd love to hear from anyone who is enthusiastic about
their internship experience.
INTERNSHIP MEETING:
Attend the general information meeting this fall and learn about the
resources available. Students who have participated in internships will
talk about their experiences. The meeting will be held in the Career
