Top 10 Things to Do When You Graduate
1. Start a Retirement Plan: It's never too early!
2. Start a Savings Plan: A good rule of thumb is that you should
have two month's worth of living expenses socked away for emergencies.
3. Travel Around the World: You've always wanted to travel, now
is a good time to do it. Future employers won't hold it against you,
and you'll be able to do it more cheaply now.
4. Thank all of the people who have helped you: Lots of people
helped you do this by giving you money and advice and inspiration. Use
this opportunity to say thank you to all of those individuals.
5. Don't stop learning: While you're probably sick to death of
school, don't get sick of learning. Keep reading, go to museums, talk
all night with someone in a coffee shop.
6. Do something to give back to the world: Life has been pretty
good to you. Do something good for the world, to say thank you for having
such a blessed life.
7. Start paying back your loans: Do it now. Get it over with.
8. Do something you love (and preferably get paid for it): Now
is the time to take that job you'll always remember and love, even if
it doesn't pay well. You'll be glad you did it.
9. Live within your means: Avoid credit card companies, watch
your debt
10. Don't 'play house' until you're ready: You may feel like
now that you're an adult you should live like one. Don't buy a lot of
"stuff" just because you think it's expected of you.
