YouthLEAD Program (MN). Intern position available as Youth Leadership Development Coordinator. Responsi-bilities include coordinating the planning, implementation, and evaluation of YouthCARE's Youth Advisory Council, organizing and facilitating a fall retreat, monthly meetings, and other duties. Experience working with youth preferred but not required. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Humberger, (612) 338-1233, for more information.

Program in Human Rights & Medicine (MN). Internship competition open to any full-time student enrolled in a Minnesota institution. Focus of internship is a substantive project concerning a population at risk within the context of our health care system. Applicants may work together or alone to develop a project proposal. Each proposal should have scholarly or intellectual merit and should be designed to advance the work of the host organization. Deadline: June 17, 2002, $3,000 award.

City of New York (NY). Summer Internship program provides opportunities to make a difference in municipal government. Internships are available in virtually every area of municipal government, and summer interns participate in a special seminar series featuring top City officials presenting overviews of the mechanics of local government. Paid and unpaid positions available.

Choral Arts Society (DC). Arts Administration Internship available to college juniors, seniors, and graduates. Intern will get involved in marketing, PR, box office, community and educational outreach, artistic administration, and pro-ducing special events. Excellent written and oral communications skills a must, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Front Page and Pagemaker is helpful. Position is unpaid. Cemstone "Roc On"(MN). Seasonal full-time position from April 1-October 31. Responsibilities include verifying the mix proportions and checking the quality of the materials being supplied for use in Minnesota Department of Transportation and commercial work. Will also be sampling materials at production sites, testing the materials following MnDOT requirements and making corrections where needed, among other duties. Applicants must have a valid drivers license and a dependable vehicle, must be able to work long hours, read, understand, and follow test procedures, must be able to life at least 50 pounds. $10/hour, plus overtime pay, paid mileage, and no benefits.

Minnesota Citizens for the Arts
Minnesota Citizens for the Arts is a nationally renowned arts and advocacy organization that lobbies for state arts funding.Part-time internship available: start date is July 1, 2002. Interns will have exposure to and opportunities to interact with some of the movers and shakers in the arts community, as well as a working knowledge of the legislative process, arts funding structures in Minnesota and the basic functions of running a nonprofit. Perks include free tickets to performances and many opportunities to advance in the arts and/or the political community.
Duties and projects included in the internship:
Working with staff on current projects including grassroots organizing, candidate meetings, voter education, board meeting preparation, filing and data entry.
Qualifications:
*Interest in the political process
*Good communication skills, especially speaking with people on the phone.
*A self-starting, positive, self -motivated personality and a sense of humor.
*Computer literacy, preferably experience with Macintosh, Microsoft Word and Excel and database systems.
*Independent and creative work habits.
