American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (DC). This organization was founded to defend the rights of Americans of Arab descent against discrimination, stereotyping and hate crimes; to promote cultural heritage; and to serve as a voice for the Arab-American Community. The Committee is seeking over 12 interns for the summer to participate in programs for leadership development. Students gain practical training in community organizing, media relations, research and writing, and much more. Candidates must have completed at least one year of college. The positions last from June 1 to July 31, and a stipend of $750 is offered. It is also possible to receive credit. Applications are due by March 1. Camp Togowoods (AK). Spend your summer in Alaska working as a camp counselor, program director, lifeguard, or cook. Competitive salary is based on experience and certifications, room and board also provided. Season runs from June 1-August 11. For application or more information email camptogo@alaska.net.

Faribault Woolen Mills (MN). The oldest private company in Minnesota is seeking interns to help with marketing, executive administrative assistance, concept manufacturing, finance, and general data collection. This position can be paid or unpaid depending on the situation, person, availability, credentials, etc. Only 20 minutes away, Faribault is seeking intelligent students with research skills. North House Folk School (MN). Internship available with Program and Administration emphasis. The North House curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning and includes courses ranging from timber framing to freshwater studies, North Woods paddle making to bread baking. Principal Financial Group (IA). Internship opportunities available for students. All positions require candidates to be customer service and detail oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Positions include Asset Management Intern, Closing, Commercial Mortgage Underwriter, Engineering Intern, and more. For an up-to-date list, visit their web site. Student Conservation Association (LA). Opportunities are available for 3 month Team Leaders starting in May or June. The SCA provides expense-paid positions throughout the US, and interns serve public and private natural and cultural resource management agencies while working alongside paid professional staff members. Training is provided at the agency. Interns receive funds to cover travel to the program site and return home, free housing, a subsistence/living allowance and insurance. Students also receive AmeriCorps Education Awards of up to $4,725. Application instructions and a full list of opportunities are available online.

Summer Academic Programs at Carleton (MN). The Office of Summer Academic Programs at Carleton is currently accepting applications for Program Assistant positions for summer 2003. Job responsibilities include living in the dorms with program participants, organizing activities, preparing materials, tutoring and much more. This full-time position pays a stipend plus room and board. For an application contact Becky Fineran-Gardner at bfineran@acs.carleton.edu. Deadline to apply is March 3.

Target (MN). Internships in Advertising and Human Resources available for summer 2003. The interns will be paired with a mentor who will be a guide through the program. Positions last from June 3 until August 9. Students interested may send their resumes to adv/hr.interns@target.com by March 15 to be considered.

University of Minnesota (MN). 58 intern positions are available for Summer 2003 in all areas of the state and range from youth development, agriculture, and horticulture to natural resources and nutrition programs. Work with youth and adults in communities making a difference in the quality of life for Minnesotans. Pay is $10/hour, and the application deadline is March 3. Wells Fargo (MN). Summer Internships available in various departments. Positions include Assistant to Fixed Income Traders, Brokerage Sales and Operations -Assistant, Communications, and many more. Full listing and applications are available in the Career Center. All positions start in June and run for approximately three months. Applications are due by March 4, 2003.

Women's Media Group (NY). Summer internships available for underrepresented minority students in magazine publishing, book publishing and television production. This New York City based nonprofit organization is offering internships for minority women for the summer. These paid positions are approximately 8 weeks in length. Housing is not provided. To be considered, all interested applicants should email a resume and cover letter to internship@womensmediagroup.org by March 3.
