CARNEGIE ENDOWMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL PEACE
The endowment is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States. The 2003-04 program will provide an opportunity for ten students to have a substantive one-year working experience in Washington, D.C. All applicants must be nominated by the College. Applicants must be graduating seniors. Applications must be submitted to the Career Center by Friday, January 3, 2003 at Noon for review by a Career Center Committee. Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DC). Internship message from Carleton alum Aisha Bierma '02: Interns needed for late winter, spring, and summer positions. Responsibilities include supporting administrative and legislative staff, attending briefings, and completing various projects as assigned. College juniors and seniors are preferred. In some cases, a stipend may be available, and internships are offered year-round on a full-time or part-time bases. Contact information available in Career Center.

North Star Resource Group (MN). Part-time internships in the legal arena are available for students considering the pursuit of a career in law. This position will allow students to assist in legal duties specializing in estate and business planning. Various duties that may be performed are the processing of business and estate planning documents, assisting with preparation for client meetings and legal research. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. In addition, candidates must have refined verbal and written communication skills as well as critical thinking ability. United Leaders 2003 Institute for Political Service (DC). This nonpartisan, nonprofit organization works to get young people into careers in public service. The 8-week fellowship program is designed to equip students with the skills, resources, network, and support necessary to pursue honorable careers in political service. William Penn House (DC). 9- and 12-month internship opportunities for those wishing to work and serve in Washington, D.C. are available. Seeking candidates with a Quaker background who have a desire to work with others and who would welcome an opportunity to live in community and to further Quaker values in the nation's Capitol.
