American Friends Service Community (Mexico). The 2003 Mexico Summer Project aims to provide a place for youth from different countries of the Americas, Europe, and the indigenous communities of Xilitla to work together on community projects, share from their diverse cultures and experiences, and learn ways to address the political, ecological and economic challenges of their present and their future. There is a project fee of $1,250, the application deadline is March 1, 2003. Visit the website for further information.

Camp Manito-Wish YMCA (WI). Interns needed to be role models for youth and provide meaningful experiences for adolescents in a wilderness setting. Schedule is 6 days per week, various dates from March through November. $170/week stipend, benefits include room, board and academic credit. Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center (MN). Professional Naturalist Fellowship available with this private, non-profit accredited school. Duration is August 25-June 4, and fellows will attend training, coordinate and lead programs, teach large and small groups, and assist with the curriculum. Graduates only, related field preferred. $600 monthly stipend and room/board provided. Application information available in Career Center.

Fresh Air Fund (NY). Not-for-profit organization that provides youngsters with free camping programs is currently recruiting summer staff. Hiring General Counselors, Program Staff, Waterfront Staff, Ropes Course Facilitators, Farm Staff and Nutritionists. Additional information about staff and applications can be found online.

Her Own Words (WI). Internship in women's studies and media available throughout the year. Part-time, unpaid interns will work for producer/distributor of videotapes on women's history, literature, and art. Interns will also help produce videotapes, including photography, editing, and sound recording. Alum sponsored by Jocelyn Riley Carleton '71. Institute for Humane Studies (VA). Paid Journalism internships available at Freedom Communications, Inc. Newspapers. Interns receive a $1,500 stipend, housing allowance, and various seminars and career workshops. Duration is June 8-August 16, 2003. Application deadline is January 15, 2003; apply online.

Johns Hopkins University (MD). The Center for Talented Youth offers valuable professional opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students, and is seeking enthusiastic students to work in the summer programs. 21 different sites around the country, 2 sessions, and the salaries range from $1,800-$2,700 per 3-week session. Lunar & Planetary Institute (TX). Summer interns complete a research project of current interest in planetary science, working one-on-one with a scientist at the LPI or at Johnson Space Center. The Summer Intern Program gives participants experience with real research, the opportunity to learn from top-notch planetary scientists and a chance to preview careers in research. The 10-week program runs from June to August, and there is a weekly stipend of $500. Apply online. Deadline is February 3, 2003.

National Sports Center (MN). Various internship opportunities available in the areas of Media & Communications, Sports Administration and Event Management, Registration Coordinator and more. All positions are paid a stipend based on $8-$10/hour depending on experience. Students may work during the year on a part-time basis. Application information available in the Career Center.

Phillips Academy Andover (MA). 20 teaching positions available to college seniors and graduate students who want to test their aspiration to become teachers. Those chosen for the Teaching Assistants program will assist in the classrooms, the athletic fields, the dormitories, as well as with social functions and the unique college counseling program. $2,400 plus room and board. University of Minnesota (MN). Participants needed for the Life Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Programs during the summer of 2003. Housing is available in campus residence halls, stipends are $350 week. Application deadline is January 15. Visit the website for more information.
