This site allows you to search through businesses and organizations
all over the country. This is a great way to find information and contacts.
You will find lists of organizations matching the criteria you've selected.
Use these profiles to contact them about jobs or internships. Username:
carleton; password: career.
Liberal
Arts Career Network Internships and Jobs. This is one of the
best ways for Carleton students to find internships. Carleton and 27
other selective liberal arts colleges have posted all their available
internships on this one searchable web site, giving you access to more
than 10,000 internships worldwide. Jobs are also posted in this database.
Username instructions are on the web page.
Liberal
Arts Career NetWORK (Vault).
This site contains company, industry and career profiles and guidebooks.
Password: lacnhamilton.
MonsterTrak.
Monster provides job search chat sessions, interviews with people working
in various industries, tips on resumes and cover letters, and a job
database with over 20,000 positions listed. This site is geared specifically
toward entry-level jobs. Click on "Search Jobs and Internships," select
"Carleton College," password: career.
Spotlight
on Careers. This site includes a list of resources compiled
by small liberal arts colleges (like Carleton) sorted by job category.
It holds links geared toward students and provides information as well
as actual job postings. From film to medicine to the environment, this
web site focuses on some of the most popular topics for Carleton students.

UNIVERSITY
OF MINNESOTA GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL DAY
The University of Minnesota is holding its annual Graduate and Professional
School Day on Wednesday, October 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. in the Great Hall in Coffman Union on the University Campus. More
than 90 graduate and professional schools from throughout the country
will be represented. It provides students with the opportunity to speak
with college and university representatives from Law, Business, Education,
Health Sciences and a variety of other graduate and professional programs.
Admission is free and open to the public. Also, many law schools will
be present as part of the Law School Forum. For more info and a list

ACM
CHICAGO ARTS PROGRAM
The Chicago Arts Program is an off-campus experience for students interested
in the arts: performing, language, visual, media and commercial. It
is preparation for students who hope to pursue art-related careers,
as well as students with strong general interests in the arts and humanities.
By combining practical, creative and scholarly activity, the Program
teaches students how to put what they're learning on campus into practice.
The program is designed for juniors and seniors and is open to students
from any academic major. Download the application from the ACM web site
www.acm.edu/cap. ACM must receive
completed applications (having gone through all on-campus procedures)
by Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 for the spring session.

CHANCELLOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers ten German Chancellor
Scholarships annually to highly motivated individuals in the private,
public, non-profit, cultural and academic sectors. The program sponsors
individuals who demonstrate the potential to strengthen ties between
Germany and the United States through their profession or studies. The
scholarship provides a one year stay in Germany for professional development,
study, or research. Prior knowledge of German is not a prerequisite.

PEACE FELLOWSHIP, DC
The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship is a program that provides
college graduates the opportunity to work in Washington, DC, with a
public-interest organization focusing on arms control and international
security issues. The fellowship is offered twice yearly and lasts from
six to nine months. Those interested should visit the web site at www.scoville.org.
There is no application form; the application requirements are listed
on the web site, as are links to the web sites of participating organizations
and information on the work of former Scoville Fellows. A flyer about

Michael Wilmore will be on campus interviewing students interested in
social justice and looking for jobs after graduation. Positions available
for Labor Union Organizer, Apprentice. Apprenticeship is on-the-job
training, $450/week (+ housing, health insurance, and transportation
are provided by the Organizing Institute during the apprenticeship).
Leading to permanent position, Salary $25,000-$35,000 + benefits. A
Union Organizer helps workers gain union representation. This requires
the organizer to develop leadership skills among workers, educate people
about their rights, explain the union organizing process and run a campaign

ACORN, Chicago

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is
looking for (students) full time community organizing trainees interested
in a career in social justice. ACORN is a national grassroots organization
that works on issues affecting low to moderate income families, such
as living wage jobs, public school improvement, access to health care,
immigrant and civil rights and a fair share of public resources. The
