ACORN COMMUNITY ORGANIZER TRAINING WEEKEND
Over the last 30 years, ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has been the largest community organization of low-to-moderate income people in the nation. Their members work from the neighborhood level up to win community reinvestment, living wages, neighborhood improvements and political power for low income and minority communities. Now their skills can be yours, through a free, three-day Community Organizer Training Weekend in Chicago. ACORN is currently accepting applications for the June 27-29 Training Weekend. They are seeking applicants who are seeking full-time jobs as labor, community, or political organizers. Apply online.

NEW DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA
Students throughout the world who are interested in learning more about taking a holistic approach to life now have the opportunity to sign up for a distance learning course with Dr. Sunny Hansen, a past president of the American Counseling Association and the National Career Development Association. The course "Integrative Career/Life Planning" is offered for three credits through the University of Minnesota's College of Continuing Education. The course will benefit college students considering a career in counseling. Topics include knowing our authentic and changing selves, career as story, finding work that needs doing, challenging stereotypes, connecting spirituality and work, making creative career decisions, managing transitions, and many other thought-provoking dimensions of career/life planning. CHESTERFIELD WRITER'S FILM PROJECT
The Writer's Film Project (WFP) offers fiction, theater, and film writers the opportunity to begin a career in screenwriting. This year, up to five writers will be chosen to participate, and each will receive a $20,000 stipend to cover his or her living expenses. The WFP writers are chosen by competition, and evaluated on the basis of prose and dramatic writing samples. Selected writers form a screenwriting workshop in Los Angeles, using their storytelling skills to begin a career in film. During the Fellowship year, each writer creates two original, feature-length screenplays. Throughout the program, selected film professionals and Paramount Pictures executives serve as mentors, sharing their opinions and experience with the Fellows.

Asian Americans for Equality seeks a Fair Housing Outreach and Case Coordinator. Responsibilities include community outreach and education, advocacy, case intake and management under the supervision of the Managing Director of the AAFE Legal Center. Applicants should be committed to the mission of empowering immigrant communities regarding their civil and legal rights. Applicants must have a four year degree and a major in sociology, political science, or Asian Studies is helpful. Applicants must have experience working with culturally or linguistically diverse communities, demonstrated leadership and initiative in community, cultural, or student activities, and must be bilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Korean. Boston Teacher Fellows, MA
Boston Teacher Fellows (BTF) is an exciting new program to recruit, prepare and sustain Boston's next generation of teachers sponsored by the Boston Plan for Excellence. BTF is a one-year teacher preparation program based in some of Boston's best elementary and middle schools. As a Fellow, you earn Massachusetts Initial teacher certification and a master's degree in Education. You receive a stipend for your service to the host school and are eligible for an education award upon successful completion of the program. Fellows spend four days a week working with a master teacher and one day in a seminar. Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to working in and for a city, a love of children, a strong academic background, the ability to work well with others, and leadership skills. Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders seeks a full-time Spanish-speaking Public Educator/Client Advocate. Responsibilities include outreach to communities affected by HIV, and education of consumers, case managers and other providers, on discrimination and other legal issues facing people with HIV, particularly in Latino, African-American, Haitian, and Asian communities. Assist in management of legal information hotline; client intake in English and Spanish; assess client needs and provide legal information and referrals to other legal and non-legal AIDS services providers; assist Education Director in supervision and training of volunteers. This position is responsible for the smooth and efficient management of administrative activities in Program in Health Care Financing, which conducts research in International Health Economics programs. Specific responsibilities include: process and monitor financial transactions, prepare monthly financial reports; process new employees and post-doctoral fellows; administer grant applications; assist with the preparation of annual budgets and reports; maintain computer capabilities; coordinate with the departmental and school sponsored research and administrative officials; manage accounts payable and receivable; provide modest secretarial support to the Program Director; and perform related duties as required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Preference given to those with related work experience. Ability to perform jobs with minimum supervision; must be flexible and organized. The Posse Foundation, MA

The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and selects student leaders to form multicultural teams called "Posses." Posse then trains these multicultural teams of high school seniors in preparation for enrollment at top universities. Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW)
SPW has developed a respected international reputation for its youth-led health and environmental education programs. SPW harnesses the energy and enthusiasm of trained volunteers (aged 18-28) to run targeted, peer-led education programs to empower young people in rural communities in Africa and Asia. Following 4-6 weeks of intensive training, volunteers are placed in small groups within rural communities in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, India or Nepal. SPW volunteers use a range of formal and informal methods to teach about issues such as sanitation, deforestation, organic farming techniques, HIV/AIDS, and child rights. To promote sustainability, the focus of each project is decided on through collaboration between the volunteers and local people.
