UNIVERSITY OF MN SUMMER PROGRAM IN ARCHITECTURE
The summer intensive program in architecture at the University of Minnesota is a five-week program designed for those exploring architecture as a profession, and for students considering application to graduate school in architecture who have no previous design experience. The program will take place June 16-July 18.

CARLSON SUMMER BUSINESS ACADEMY (CSBA)
CSBA is a four-week, intensive "boot camp" designed for liberal arts and science majors with at least 90 credits completed by the end of spring 2003. Led by top Carlson School Management faculty, the class sessions will explore Marketing, Operations Management, Accounting, Finance, and Information Technology. Students who successfully complete the Academy will have compiled the ideal career credentials that discerning employers seek: depth and breadth in the liberal arts, complemented by a firm understanding of underlying business principles. The academy will provide students with a competitive edge in the job market as they acquire the knowledge that is needed to set successful business careers in motion. Tuition for the June 2 -27 program is $4,800. Students accepted into the program are eligible for up to $500 in scholarship support based on merit. SIX-WEEK FILM EDITING COURSE
The Edit Center, a film editing school in New York City, offers a Six-Week Art of Editing course. This course is a full-on immersion in the world of independent film editing. It offers beginning editors the chance to work on independent feature films, interacting directly with upcoming directors and editors to put together a rough cut of an unreleased movie. The summer classes run from July 21 to August 29. Come to the Career Center and pick up a brochure.

Liz Keyes, '94, is presently interning (as a law student) at the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights. She saw the job opening for a Legal Assistant, and thought it would be perfect for Carleton graduating seniors. The Lawyers Committee for Human Rights has worked since 1978 to protect and promote the rights to which everyone is entitled under international law. The Asylum Program is seeking a Legal Assistant to work closely with volunteer attorneys; to handle the complex administrative details of the program; to coordinate the schedules, informational packets, case summaries, and computer databases; to schedule, coordinate and conduct initial interviews with detainees seeking representation at the detention facilities; and to participate in all of those activities required to smoothly handle this complex process confidentially and competently. The Academy at Charlemont is seeking a Physical Science/Mathematics teacher. After an orientation and training period, associates are assigned to their first case, reporting directly to the project leader. As associates gain experience, they work more independently. -Admissions Counselor, Admissions Department. As a professional member of the admissions office team, the Admissions Counselor will assist in the recruitment and selection of new students (freshmen and transfer) for the College. The Admissions Counselor will visit secondary schools throughout the U.S., take a major role in interviewing students, answer letters and phone calls, assist the Associate Dean in minority recruitment projects, and work with the Schiller Society and other student volunteers.
-Art/Exhibitions Associate, Library Administration Department. The purpose of this position is to support the curator and Library staff in developing and implementing an ongoing program of exhibits and art installations in the Library. Working closely with the curator, the A/E Associate will participate in the planning and design of exhibits and the placement of artworks, help design and fabricate exhibits and related graphics, and help to develop exhibit-related aspects of the Library's web site. This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week. Recent Carleton graduate preferred.
-Evening Supervisor, Library/Loan Services Department. The Evening Supervisor is responsible for library operations during evening hours. Supervise student employees in general operation of the Circulation and Reserve Desks, Interlibrary Loan, and stack maintenance. Recent Carleton graduate preferred.
-Geoscience Assistant. The geoscience assistant will assist in development of websites and digital libraries designed to improve teaching in the geosciences. Work will focus on creation of materials for three projects: Starting Point, a website designed to help faculty and graduate students teaching entry level geoscience; Earth Exploration Toolbook, a site bringing tools for teaching with data to K-12 educators; and On the Cutting Edge, a site bringing workshops for geoscience faculty to a broad audience. The job is designed for a geoscience graduate interested in learning more about education and the use of the web.

Center for Immunology, University of Minnesota

The Laboratory of Dr. Yoji Shimizu, Ph.D., would like to announce a summer undergraduate research position. The students will develop and implement a protocol to look at antigen-stimulated T cell proliferation in an in vivo mouse model with the assistance of a graduate student in the lab. The project will involve learning the following techniques: isolation of lymph nodes from mice, T cell purification, adoptive transfer, and flow cytometry. Centro de Estudios Linguisticos, Guatemala
Deadline: May 15

Centro de Estudios Linguisticos is seeking an International Coordinator. The International Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of a student's stay at the center, including initial student contact and follow up, placement with family and teacher, assistance in finding volunteer opportunities, assistance with questions about living and traveling in Guatemala, and additional ongoing support during the student's stay. The Coordinator will also maintain listings of sociocultural activities taking place in the Quetzaltenango region for student and staff, develop and maintain relationships with community organizations in order to promote student and school involvement in the community through activities such as volunteer projects, visits, lectures, translate weekly lectures on political, social, economic and cultural themes, and assist with planning and implementation of publicity. The C.V. Starr-Middlebury College School in Russia

The C.V. Starr-Middlebury College School in Russia is looking for Resident Coordinators to work with American students studying in Russia from August 2003 - June 2004. The School in Russia operates four programs, at Irkutsk, Voronezh and Yaroslavl State Universities and the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow. Openings are available in Irkutsk and Moscow. The coordinator functions independently, but consults regularly by e-mail with fellow resident coordinators and with supervising staff in Moscow and Middlebury; oversees the day to day operation of the School in the local city; serves as liaison between students and administration/professors of the host university; organizes and accompanies students on field trips and excursions; and assists with orientations. Benefits include a monthly stipend of $1,800 per month, housing for 11 months, comprehensive medical insurance, and a $1,200 (maximum) allowance for round trip travel from the US to host city and return. Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA), MN

HECUA is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated assistant for their new Twin Cities' Environmental Sustainability program (Fall 2003). This is a 20 hour per week, 6-month position. The Teaching Assistant will participate in and contribute to this new HECUA program that will be unique and challenging, engaging students in both rigorous theoretical analysis about environmental issues and active involvement in strategies for social change; advise students who are eager to learn and make a difference in society; and interact with a variety of excellent resource persons from the community.

Lee's Manpower Korea is a government licensed job placing company in Korea. They offer numerous ESL instructor positions throughout Korea staring every month throughout the year. Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School
Deadline: May 9

Research technician needed to work closely with post-doctoral fellow physician and principal investigator conducting patient-oriented laboratory research focusing on the immune response to HIV. The research is mainly focused on the HIV-specific CD4 T cell responses, which are impaired in the large majority of HIV-infected individuals and are thought to be important in the pathogenesis of AIDS. The work involves immunology as well as molecular biology. Techniques include processing and freezing specimens, cell cultures, ELISPOT assays, flow cytometry analyses, lymphocyte proliferation assays, PCR, gel electrophoresis, human gene and viral sequencing, data interpretation and analysis. The responsibilities will require handling of HIV-positive specimens and radioactive reagents. The position requires an ability to translate and apply the knowledge that is generally associated with a bachelor's degree to a scientific discipline. Previous experience with immunology, tissue culture and sterile lab work is strongly preferred. Training will be given in all relevant techniques. McLean Hospital is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to help coordinate NIMH-funded longitudinal study investigating the development of individuals with personality disorders over time. Responsibilities include the tracking, scheduling, and interviewing of participants and some administrative aspects of the study. Applicants should have a B.A. in psychology. Vermont Campus Compact is looking for people to fight poverty as organizers, collaborators, and catalysts for change. Each member will serve one year at a participating college, working with students, faculty, administration, and local communities to build volunteer and service-learning programs on the campus and mobilize the resources of higher education to serve the needs of the community. General Responsibilities include building and maintaining community partnerships, recruiting student leaders, training student leaders, and working with faculty to develop service-learning programs. By coordinating the integration of service and academics, you will effect sustainable change that serves community needs while fostering much needed leadership and civic engagement in college students. Positions begin in late July. Vermont Campus Compact requires a college degree, excellent communication skills, public speaking skills, a desire to work with college students, volunteer experience and a demonstrated commitment to serve, and leadership experience.

The Welfare Law Center, NY
The Welfare Law Center seeks an Associate Circuit Rider to join its successful and nationally recognized Low Income Networking and Communications (LINC) Project, a pioneering initiative that empowers grassroots low-income groups to use cutting edge technology strategically in organizing and advocacy. The Associate Circuit Rider position is full-time, though a part-time appointment may be considered for the right candidate, and requires extensive travel. The position is for one year with employment beyond that subject to funding. This is an exciting position for a creative and energetic technology activist who is committed to social justice.

Women's Research & Education Institute (WREI) Congressional Fellowships

Students must be enrolled in a graduate program for next year in order to be eligible. WREI is an independent, national, public policy research and education center whose mission is to inform and help shape the public policy debate on issues affecting women and their roles in the family, workplace, and public arena. WREI Fellowships are designed to train women as potential leaders in public policy formation and to examine issues from the perspective, experiences, and needs of women. A WREI Fellow works a minimum of 30 hours per week in a Congressional office. Fellows meet weekly for issue seminars. The program runs from January 2004 to August 2004. A WREI Fellow receives a stipend of $1200 per month, is provided $500 for the purchase of health insurance, and may be provided with up to $1500 for the cost of three hours tuition at a Fellow's home institution.

W.W. Norton & Company is the largest independent publisher in North America wholly owned and operated by its employees. W.W. Norton & Company is seeking a career-oriented individual with a strong interest in book publishing for the entry-level position of College Sales Representative.
