EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES GROUP
The Educational Resources Group is a recruiting service working with 640 independent (private) schools. The schools are located nationwide. Educational Resources Group (ERG) is paid by the schools to locate, interview and recommend candidates for specific teaching and administrative positions in these schools. There is no cost of any kind to candidates. The schools are of many varieties: boarding, day, co-ed, all girls, all boys, K-6, K-12, 9-12, non-secular, religious, formal, informal, etc. The Educational Resources Group will be accepting resumes through on-line recruiting through Wednesday November 6th and will be interviewing students on-campus on Wednesday, November 13th.

The 2002 Human Rights Day features 10 powerful new workshops packed with information on the latest trends, emerging issues, best practices and key decisions shaping the future of human rights presented by outstanding speakers and panelists. ALUM CONNECTIONS

Dana Horstein, '01, would like to alert students to a Distance Learning Coordinator position at the Chicago Historical Society. The Coordinator would research, develop and implement CHS's interpretive programs for teacher and student audiences. Someone with experience with video work and/or web technology, history, and education is preferred. Email dana_horstein@mcgraw-hill.com.

Karen Guttentag, '90, would be happy to talk with any current students if she can be of help in any way (e.g. career paths). She worked in publishing for 2 years, admissions for 5 (1 year at Lafayette, 4 at Bowdoin), joined the Peace Corps (stationed in Chad), worked for two years in the non-profit world in Boston, got her MEd (Harvard) and is now Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Middlebury College. FELLOWSHIPS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Andover Teaching Fellowship Program, MA
Deadline: February 1
An independent, coeducational, boarding and day school, Phillips Academy is a diverse community whose students and faculty reflect America's demographic composition. Phillips Academy's one-year program for Teaching Fellows is designed for recent graduates from college and graduate school who are interested in pursuing the opportunity to teach in a guided program both in the classroom and dormitory and in athletics. Applicants need to be enthusiastic about living in a residential school that thrives on the challenges of diversity. Come to the Career Center to pick up a brochure and application.

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
Junior Fellows Program, Washington, D.C.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted to the Career Center by January 3, 2003 at noon
The 2003-4 program will provide an opportunity for students who desire careers in international affairs to have a substantive one-year working experience in Washington, D. C. Fellows provide research assistance to Associates working on the Endowment's research projects such as nonproliferation, democracy building, trade and environment, Chinese political and economic transitions, international economic reform, information revolution and world politics and Russian and Eurasian studies. Carleton College will nominate its candidates for the Fellows position. Contact Ann Ness at x4298 for more information. Applications are available in the Career Center.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Fellowship Program, Washington, D.C.
Deadline: February 28
The CHCI was established by members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus as a non-profit, non-partisan educational organization dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders. CHCI's educational services are designed to provide Latino students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in attaining a higher education. After a weeklong orientation Fellows research and interview with possible placements and select the office that best matches their interests. Through the community service project, Fellows must cooperate and rely on each other's strengths to achieve a greater public good. Fellows' intensive work experience is enhanced by weekly sessions where they meet with national leaders, engage in substantive policy discussions, and learn about the policy-making process at the federal level. Judicial Administration Fellowship Program, CA
Deadline: February 26
California State University Sacramento (CSUS) and the California Judicial Council will sponsor the annual Judicial Administrative Fellowship program- awarding 10 college graduates interested in California's judicial system the opportunity to work in the largest court system in the Western world. Fellows work as professional staff providing administrative support to the Chief Justice, the Judicial Council and trial courts throughout California. Fellows work as full-time paid professionals and are enrolled as graduate students in Public Administration at CSUS. For an application, visit www.csus.edu/calst or come to the Career Center.

National Science Foundations Graduate Research Fellowship Program
Deadline: November 7
The National Science Foundation (NSF) seeks to ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science, mathematics, and engineering in the United States and to reinforce its diversity. NSF Graduate Fellowships offer recognition and three years of support for advanced study to approximately 900 outstanding graduate students in the mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, and behavioral and social sciences, including the history of science and the philosophy of science, and to research-based PhD degrees in science education. To be eligible for this nationwide merit competition, an individual must be a citizen, or permanent resident of the United States, and at or near the beginning of graduate study. Carleton has been extraordinarily successful over the years in the NSF Fellowship program. This program offers qualified graduates two-year appointments as assistant English teachers in over thirty sites in Japan. TLC is a citizen organization working to increase transportation choices in MN, including biking, walking, bus and rail transit.
