all over the country. This is a great way to find information and contacts.
You will find lists of organizations matching the criteria you've selected.

Arts Career Network Internships and Jobs. This is one of the
best ways for Carleton students to find internships. Carleton and 27
other selective liberal arts colleges have posted all their available
internships on this one searchable web site, giving you access to more

Carleton uses e-Recruiting to host our recruiting schedule. This
on-line system lets you register for interviews, etc., on-line. To access

on Careers. This site includes a list of resources compiled
by small liberal arts colleges (like Carleton) sorted by job category.

CUR'S REGISTRY OF UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHERS
AND GRADUATE SCHOOLS
This registry is designed to link undergraduate students who have
research experience with graduate schools interested in recruiting such
students. The registry is free of charge to the students. Interested
graduate schools contact CUR (Council of Undergraduate Research) and
pay to gain access to the student's records. These schools can then
contact students whose records they are interested in. 100% of the proceeds
go directly into our Summer Fellowships program, supporting CUR members
and their students for a summer of (CUR-sponsored) research. Students

THE JOHN GLENN INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC SERVICE
AND PUBLIC POLICY ANNUAL ESSAY COMPETITION
The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy and
the School of Public Policy and Management at The Ohio State University
invite college students worldwide to explore issues of leadership through
a public policy essay competition. Students must be full-time college
juniors or seniors in accredited U.S. colleges or universities as of
January 15, 2004. Students should write a 1,500-word essay addressing
the topic question (What is the Essence of Excellent Leadership?). Winners
will receive awards of $1,000, $500, $300, or $200 plus travel expenses
to attend a winners' luncheon hosted by Senator Glenn in Washington,
D.C. in May 2004.
Submissions deadline is March 15, 2004.

HERBERT SCOVILLE JR. PEACE FELLOWSHIP
The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship is a program that provides
college graduates the opportunity to work in Washington, DC, with a
public-interest organization focusing on arms control and international
security issues. The Fellowship is offered twice yearly, in the spring
and fall. It lasts from six to nine months and provides a stipend, health
insurance, and travel costs to Washington. The Scoville Fellowship does
not award grant or scholarship money to students. Scoville Fellows may
undertake a variety of activities including research, writing, and organizing
in support of the goals of their host organization and may attend coalition
meetings, policy briefings, and Congressional hearings. The application
requirements are listed on the web site (www.scoville.org),

JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR TALENTED
YOUTH SUMMER TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES
For over 24 years, JHU's CTY has been offering intensive course
work to academically talented pre-collegiate students. Students who
attend are between 8 and 16 years old, and take rigorous courses in
mathematics, science, computer science, humanities, and writing. CTY
offers valuable professional opportunities to undergraduate and graduate
students. There are two sessions offered each summer that last for 3
weeks. Salaries range from $800-$2700 per 3-week session. Room and board
are provided at our residential sites.

STIPENDS FOR OVERSEAS TRAVEL FROM MYTRAVELBUG.ORG
Fellows are awarded stipends to travel overseas on self-designed
trips in exchange for publishing their travelogues and pictures on the
website. Depending on fundraising efforts, we hope to eventually offer
at least $150,000 in Fellowships each year. The application involves
submitting a detailed itinerary, budget, and planned activities, 3 essays
and a small application fee. The deadline is March 19, 2004, however
we are accepting applications on a rolling admissions basis for students
who want to travel earlier or just want to complete the application

SUMMER TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES AT NEW
ENGLAND CITYBRIDGE
Citybridge is currently seeking committed, driven college students
to serve as faculty members during our six-week summer session. We also
have openings for two deans and an office manager. Citybridge is a tuition-free,
residential academic enrichment program designed to prepare motivated
public middle school students from Cambridge and Boston for rigorous
high school programs. Additionally, we work to encourage talented young
people to explore careers in teaching or public service. During the
summer session, students take classes in math, English, science, and
social studies. College students (the faculty) work with experienced
middle and high school educators to learn pedagogical strategies, develop
curricular goals, and apply assessment techniques in the classroom.
In keeping with Citybridge's mission, we have a particular focus on
hiring college students of color. Last summer, 80% of our faculty were
people of color, and currently, 90% of the students in our program are
students of color. Summers at Citybridge provide a great opportunity

NONVIOLENT PEACEFORCE JOB OPENING
The Nonviolent Peaceforce is looking for an administrative assistant
to report to our Executive Director (ED). The administrative assistant
will be responsible for the following tasks: daily reviewing, sorting,
and prioritizing of the ED's email and regular mail; following up on
emails that don't require the Ed's direct attention; getting emails
translated when necessary; keeping Ed's calendar, scheduling meetings
and trips; collecting financial data and entering it into a cash-on-hand
spreadsheet twice a week; receiving, arranging for translation, distributing,
and keeping files of minutes from Co-chair, Executive Committee, and
International Governing Council meetings; keeping electronic copies
of international staff minutes; forwarding month-end financial statements
to International Governing members and maintaining electronic copies;
typing letters, compiling packets for mailing, readying materials for
speaking engagements and trips; coordinating applications for short-term
health insurance for Nonviolent Peaceforce travelers and longer-term
insurance for country-based project staff and field workers; and carrying
out other tasks as delegated by the ED. Qualifications include a Bachelor's
degree and at least two years' experience providing administrative support
in a fast-paced office environment. The position is half time, although
it could be full time with the qualifications and experience in information
technology or human resources.

PROFESSIONAL NATURALIST FELLOWSHIP
Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center is a private, non-profit,
accredited school dedicated to fostering awareness, enhancing respect,
and promoting personal responsibility for the natural world. Eagle Bluff
has trained naturalists and educators since 1997. As one of 12 participants
in the fellowship, naturalists develop teaching, interpretive, and public
relations techniques, plus many other skills related to residential
environmental education. Twelve positions run from August 23, 2004 through
June 3, 2005 and include around 43 hours per week including a rotation
of evenings and weekends. Preference is given to college graduates specializing
in a related field. Compensation includes room and board for the duration
of the fellowship, $600 monthly stipend, and paid participation in select

ASSISTANTSHIP POSITIONS TO TEACH ENGLISH
IN FRANCE
Every year the cultural services of the French Embassy in the United
States offers 1500 assistantship positions to American students to teach
English for twelve hours a week in elementary, junior high school or
high school in France. The positions are available to American citizens
aged 20-30 who are pursuing or have pursued a college degree and who
have a proficiency in French. Students without a major or a minor in
French, but with a basic proficiency can also apply. The applicant will
spend 6 to 9 months teaching English conversation classes. The position
is from October 1, 2004 to at least March of 2005. The monthly income
is 800 Euros after taxes and health insurance deduction.

MEXICO SUMMER PROJECT: SEMILLEROS DE
FUTUROS, 2004
The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is seeking motivated
volunteers for the 2004 Mexico Summer Project - Semilleros de Futuros
(Sowing Futures). Semilleros de Futuros will provide a safe place where
youth from the Americas, Europe and Mexico can work together on community
projects, share from their diverse cultures and experiences, and learn
ways to address the political, social, ecological, and economic challenges
of their present and their future. The project is run in collaboration
with Servicio, Desarollo, y Paz, A.C. (SEDAPEC), a prominent Mexican
non-governmental organization. Participants are 18-26 years old and
should be able to converse comfortably in Spanish. Co-Facilitators are
19-26 years old and should be able to converse very well in Spanish,
have prior experience as a group leader, and have a demonstrated interest
in political, social and cultural issues in Mexico and Latin America.
Participants and CO-Facilitators should be willing and prepared to live
in remote living conditions. The Project fee is $1,250, which covers
food, lodging, and project materials. Participants are also responsible
for travel to and from Mexico City, incidental expenses, and travel
to and from Xilitla (where the project is based). Scholarships are available
for people with demonstrated financial need. The program itself lasts
seven weeks, from June 27- August 16, 2004.
