Printing, Mailing, and E-mailing Your Cover Letter

Here are some tips to help you in the process of sending your cover letter to an employer.

Printing--Print your cover letter and résumé on good quality white bond paper (at least 24# weight) available from Central Services in Leighton or from the Career Center, 25 sheets for $1.00. The Career Center has both Macintosh and PC's available for printing. Make sure the paper matches.

Mailing--Type the address, don't handwrite it, on a standard white business-size envelope.

E-mailing--Send your cover letter and résumé as attachments to an e-mail. Your e-mail should simply state your name and that you have attached a résumé and cover letter in a particular format. Offer to send them in another format if there are problems. IMPORTANT: Be sure you don't send a virus with your résumé. If you cost a company thousands of dollars in computer damage even before you work there, you can bet they're not going to be eager to hire you.
