Dundas, Minn., May 6 - A five-run fifth inning and a complete-game performance from Pete Hanson carried St. Olaf to a 7-1 win over Macalester in the third round of the MIAC Postseason Baseball Tournament here Saturday afternoon. Macalester (19-19 overall) is now eliminated from the tournament; St. Olaf (33-4 overall) faces St. Thomas in the double-elimination final at 4 p.m. today.

The Oles (33-4 overall) scored one unearned run in the first inning, but pounced on Macalester starter Marcus Turner with five runs in the fifth inning, capitalizing on three hits and two Macalester errors. Brian Sprout smacked a two-RBI single, and Dan LaManna also drove in a run on a single.

For the game, Sprout was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while LaManna was 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Hanson shut down Macalester (19-19 overall) through eight innings before conceding a lone run in the ninth; he allowed one earned run and walked four.

The final, pitting St. Thomas against St. Olaf, is double-elimination in nature; if St. Thomas wins, it will claim the tournament championship, as St. Olaf has already lost one game (4-1 to St. Thomas on Friday night). Should the Oles win, the deciding game will be played Sunday at 1 p.m. in Dundas.
