Northfield, Minn., May 5 - Macalester eliminated Bethel from the MIAC Postseason Baseball Tournament here Friday night, with a 13-11 victory from Northfield's Sechler Park.

Macalester (19-18) scored 11 runs in the first two innings to take an 11-5 lead over the Royals (27-15-1). Bethel closed the gap with five unanswered runs to trail 11-10 in the seventh, but Macalester eased away with runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

Macalester's Tom Gillespie moved to 5-5 overall, pitching 6 1/3 innings, allowing 10 runs, four of them earned. Brian McCarthy earned the save, while Ryan Holland (5-1 overall) took the pitching loss for Bethel.

Jesse Calm led the Scots at the plate, going 3-for-5 with six RBI and two home runs. Scott Bell doubled twice, with Justin Haskin also homering for Macalester.

Macalester now faces St. Olaf at1 p.m. tomorrow in an elimination game from Dundas Field, with the winner facing St. Thomas at 4 p.m.
