St. Thomas defeats Bethel, 13-7

Northfield, Minn., May 5- Jake Mauer went three for five with two runs scored to lead St. Thomas to a 13-7 victory over Bethel in the first round of the MIAC baseball playoffs.

St. Thomas seized the lead with a six run second inning and never looked back. Bethel threatened with four runs in the top of the ninth inning, but they were unable to overcome the deficit.

Nate Sundberg and Steve Aronson each went two for four with two RBI for the Tommies. Tyler Gregory led the way at the plate for Bethel, going four for five with two runs scored. Dan Richards also had a hot bat, going three for four with two RBI.

Brian Toov picked up the win for the Tommies, striking out three and walking none over eight innings pitched. Jason Lenz took the loss for Bethel.
